Algemene Televisie Verzorging (ATV) is a television station in Suriname. It was founded in 1983 and was the second television station in Suriname. It is operated by the state's Telecommunication Company Telesur.
General Television Care, a concept in our society for more than 25 years, has the mission:
Meeting the needs of all its customers for informative, educational, and recreational TV programs that do not violate generally accepted moral values.
How it all started
The Omroep Project Telesur started in 1983 as an experiment. An agreement has been entered into with Radiobras for the relaying of television signals. It soon became apparent that there was a need for a second TV station in Suriname. After a brief hiatus in 1986, ATV resumed broadcasting on August 15, 1987, after obtaining permission from the government and has since provided the community with a minimum of 16 hours of TV daily and is now "on-air" for 24 hours. The broadcast can also be followed live via our Facebook page and website.
Our slogan captures it all well:
ATV Always a good idea .. !!!
